They Call Them Heroes - Boots on the Ground - CBN News The Price of Freedom - Boots on the Ground - CBN News The above links are to a couple of articles written about the mission to rescue Donnie Carwile (Jennifer Lamb Carwile's husband) on the day he was killed in Afghanistan. In the first article the author does not know he is writing about Donnie. In the second article he does, and with the article, there is a very moving video of the rescue. I cannot imagine what Jennifer has been thru since August. Her loss is so unimaginable and yet it occurs daily to military wives in our country. I have no doubt that God is carrying Jennifer and her precious girls through this time... For as long as I can remember, Jennifer has been a part of my family's life. She and Kim have been friends for ages. And there are so many stories that could be told about those two! The funniest of which is the two of them stealing the Olds Mobile 98, aka "The Tank." They thought it would be fun to take it for a spin down University Avenue. They were 14 years old! Well while driving down University Avenue they saw Mama's best friend, Innette. And instead of hiding, they waved at her...yes they waved!!! The first instinct for most people stealing a car would be to duck but not those two...they waved! Since this was before the advent of cell phones, I'm guessing the drive home for Innette was the longest ever! She probably couldn't get there fast enough to call Mama. To make matters worse, when Mamma and Daddy confronted them, they both denied it! I'm afraid those two may pay for their raising one day! The other memories involve Jennifer falling down...falling out of the minivan into the middle of the street at church one day, and falling on the way to the limo on her wedding day! Jennifer just laughed both occasions off! Mostly, I am very thankful for Jennifer's thoughtfulness. She and Donnie struggled to get pregnant just as Justin and I did. One random night, she called me out of the blue to tell me a about a doctor in New Albany. This doctor had been very successful in helping some people she knew get pregnant. I ended up seeing Dr. Williams, and Justin and I were expecting Cousar within a year. And because of her phone call I have many more friends who had fertility difficulties that now have little ones running around! Who knows where we would be now if Jennifer had not been kind enough to make that phone call? Please keep Jennifer and her girls in your thoughts and prayers.

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice
Kim's friend Christy took this picture of Addyson today...I love it for all of the obvious reasons - She has a bow in her hair. She is smiling. And did I mention I love that she has a bow in her hair! This picture is the best one I have seen on her yet!!
On another subject, sweet Barrett is having tubes put in his ears in the morning. Say a special prayer for him! I'll send an update as soon as I can after!

Barrett is 6 months old!
Barrett turned 6 months old last Thursday! I can't believe how fast it has gone by! We went for his 6 month check up yesterday. He has another ear infection! So we will be visiting the ENT sometime this week or next. My guess is that he will have tubes in the next couple of weeks! The poor thing has had a constant ear infection without any relief since the end of August! He should feel much better soon after! Barrett weighs 18 pounds and is 26 1/2 inches long! He is sitting up on his own now! He still doesn't have any teeth, but I'm sure those bottom two will be here very soon! He has a very sweet, quiet laugh and gets tickled very easily! He tries to get his hands on anything close to him (including my hair and Cousar's). He doesn't enjoy the bottle as much as Big Brother, but he eats a lot more baby food than Cousar ever did! So far he doesn't like bananas, mixed vegetables, or mango!!! His favorite is the apples and chicken! (Yes, they are mixed!) I've also included a picture of Cousar taken at 6 1/2 months...As you can see they look nothing alike...the only way they could be more different is if one of them had dark hair!

Homecoming Weekend
Ole Miss Homecoming was October 4th and 5th. On Friday night we went to the Homecoming parade with our friends, Tracie and Jeremy, and their little girl, Kate. After the parade we enjoyed dinner with them at Newks. Cousar and Kate had a great time chasing each other around the table! On Saturday, Cousar and I went to the Grove and football game while Justin and Barrett spent the day together at home...Cousar had a great time at the game. By the time we left he was saying "Ole Miss" and "Touchdown." He had said neither prior to the ball game! He also caught on to clapping quickly. He would be busily playing and as soon as the crowd cheered he turned around and joined in!

Moments week of October 6 - 12, 2008
Justin and I just invested in a brand new nice camera...Let me correct that because he will - Justin invested in a new camera! No more delays when we are trying to get a good picture of the boys! Justin is getting pretty proficient at different shutter speeds/lighting/etc...I'm doing well just to get it to take a picture...Below are moments from the last week...You'll notice that Justin isn't in any of them because I had not learned how to operate the camera yet!!!
Mommy and Barrett having his good night bottle...he wants to play with your face or hair whenever he takes a bottle! He can get a strong grip on the hair!

Wagon Rides
One of my favorite memories from growing up was Daddy pulling me and Kim in the wagon behind his mower...I think Kim and I were probably 2 and 4 in these pictures...I'm going to guess that they are circa 1981...

Cousar - 6 months
Cousar was just a little over 6 months when we made this video of him making his "funny face." He would do this whenever he got excited about something or found something funny...Our conclusion was that he learned the face by watching me...According to Kim I would make the same face in an attempt to get him to make it. Watch closely at the very end or you will miss it - He wrinkles his nose and squints his eyes!! It's unbelievable how much he has changed in such a short time! It's even more unbelievable that Barrett will be this age in just a few short weeks! So many of Cousar's movements in the video remind me of Barrett now! And don't worry...no babies were harmed in the making of this video! (We only waved the t-shirt in front of him!)

September Pictures
These pictures were taken by Sweets (Justin's mom) last month..
Barrett playing in the box that Justin's birthday present came in! The paper and box kept him entertained! I guess that is typical when they are this little...the paper and box are more fun than the contents!

Cousar & LuLu
For those who haven't met her, LuLu is Peyton's little girl. She just turned 4 in September, and she and Cousar are big buddies...unless they are fighting over a toy. (Luckily this doesn't happen often.) This video is of them playing with a keyboard that was Justin and Peyton's when they were children. Make sure your volume isn't up too loud before you hit play! They could both use some piano lessons!!!
